idlewild

I have decided that I will support Switzerland in Euro 2008. This is subject to change but as long as Coltorti plays for the team, I will support them. Obviously the way I see it is how attractive the team is. Italy 1998, France 2000, France-ish 2002 (didn't care after Pires got injured. Woe!)... Last year was a tricky event. I watched most matches featuring Arsenal players. Soft spot on Nederlands because I have a silly schoolgirl crush on van Basten (and his sexiness alone negates the uber dislike towards Robben, van Nistelrooij, van Bommel etc). Wearing campy clothes for the match didn't help either. I also had a soft spot on the Suisse because of Arsenal represent, yo. But also due to Valon Behrami, Tranquillo Barnetta and Coltorti. I would have supported France but I don't like DEMONech (Could've won the cup if Pires was available hahahahahahahaha). Ivory Coast for the obvious but Aruna Kone gets on my nerves. I quite liked Ghana cause it was like watching Arsenal. All fancy footworks in midfield but lack crisp finishing in the final third. I also supported Mexico a bit because Gael Garcia Bernal hails from Jalisco hahahahahaha. Seriously, if Malaysia ever qualify, I wouldn't have these ridiculous reasons as to why I support those national team!

I think I like the Swiss national team because the players are byproducts of different nationalities. Behrami is Kosovan, Senderos is half Spanish half Serbian, Cabanas is half Spanish I think, Barnetta's parents are Italian, Djourou is Ivorian etc etc. So I get the best of four corners, really.

So anyways for next big tournament, I'll stick to one team and that is Switzerland.

No doubt they'll be dropping like flies and crash out in the first round, whoever they're playing.

Behrami played last night against Jamaica. He replaced Tranquillo in the second half. Shame we never really got to see the scruffy sexiness of Behrami during last years world cup :( My Arsenal defensive duo were paired up last night. Müller was replaced by Djourou to partner shakySenderos. Clean sheet, yo! But yeah, 2-0. Inler (to be honest, never heard of that boy) and Streller scored.

Weheyyy! The joys of wikipedia. Apparently Inler is just 2 days older than me! He plays for FC Zurich and debuted for the Nati last year. Maybe he played when the Swiss lost against Brasil...?

They're up against Columbia on Sunday.

Games to watch this weekend?

My pick:
- Czech Republic vs Germany
- Ireland vs Wales
- Spain vs Denmark
- Kazakhstan (High Five Sexy Time!) vs Serbia

Predictions?
I'm awfully crap at those but what the heck..... Czech to win 2-1. Wales to nick it 1-0. Spain to draw 1-1 and Kazakhstan 0 Serbia 2.
