Sunday, August 27, 2006 There are many things I would like to say to you but I don't know how Few things that bugged me (and other people as well). a) The inclusion of Justin Hoyte. I'm not slagging him off because of the penalty he conceeded today. Even on Wednesday he failed to impress. It appears as if he's just there to make up numbers, rather than justifying his selection. I would put Flamini there in a heartbeat. Sure he's not quick as Clichy or a good defender as that boy who wants to go to Chelsea but what he lacks, he makes up with absolute passion and fearlessness of the game. Not one to shirk a challenge or give up on loose ball. I love him. b) Why start Thierry if he isn't 100% fit? Granted, a 70% fit Henry is better than most strikers but I somehow thinks this could backfire considering how the rest look up (read: are scared shitless) at him. I would personally put van Persie, Adebayor and Walcott. haha Why don't we start with those three and get Henry on say, on the 70th minute if we really need him. c) Underperforming Cesc. Something's wrong with the current goldenboy but I cannot fault him for his efforts. I think he's struggling at the moment. I understand that now he's quite established in the Premiership led to oppositions tracking him more than before but if you're that good, you should be able to resist it, non? d) Eboue. I know a lot of people prefer him to Lauren but I for one, cannot wait for Lauren to return. Eboue is quick but his decision making is very poor. He doesn't have the composure to decide whether to cross the ball or cut it back. It's just very disappointing when you see him galloping forward, only for him to hoof the ball on row Z. e) We need to shoot. I love passing game as much as the next Cruijff but when it comes to the six yard box please don't do intricate passes between each other. Just SHOOOT. Somebody give me a gun. We have got to improve. We can't keep blaming other teams for employing tactics that are against us or how many players we have in the sidelines (or going for international friendlies/qualifiers) or how the team is young etc. We've gained experience from what happened last year, I just hope we've learnt something from it. posted by demerara at 2:45 am |
